KADAGA TIPS BUSOGA ON CULTURE

Speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has tipped Busoga children to be vigilant on issues pertaining to culture, language development, clan origin, social norms, wealth and well-being.

She made the remarks at Kamuli Emirates Academy where she was a ‘chief matooke peeler’ and challenged the youth to develop their cultural values and norms as deemed by the Kisoga culture.

The efforts to start such gatherings were initiated by the Kyabazinga of Busoga His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV to ensure that Busoga Kingdom re-gains its past glory.

Children expressed their desire to continue learning their cultural heritage through such gatherings like the Ekigangu saying they will take them a head and to another milestone more so during holidays where they feel they are bored and not well attended to by their biological parents.

Former woman legislator for Namutumba district and president of Busoga Mother’s Union, Florence Mutyabule urged youths especially the elites to embark on learning cultural values like Matooke peeling, kneeling while greeting and utensil washing among others as demonstrated clearly by the speaker of parliament who she described as a ‘true Musoga girl’.

Kamuli district Inspector of schools and a facilitator at the Kigangu show, Betty Mulemezi tasked parents to bring more children next year.
