Defense Minister Dr. Crispus Kiyonga has appeared before the Defense Committee of Parliament to account for allegations that he was involved in the mayhem in the Rwenzori region district of Kasese that saw running battles between the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, minority tribes and government forces counting for the loss of lives on either sides

Kiyonga denied having had a hand in the political tensions, and land wrangles between the minority Basongora and Bakonzo over the Rwehingo land disputes, however, he was quick at defending acts of the Bakonzo youth pressure group called the Eshamango which government is accusing of reigning havoc on helpless communities of Basongora, Banyabindi and Bakagabo people.

Kiyongo also acknowledged fault on the side of government to have looked on as Omusinga Charles Wisley Mumbere recruited over 900 royal guards who’s terms and references are not clear to government and survival mode. In current intelligence reports have pointed to a fact that the royal guards have links to the tensions in the region.
